Water sport enthusiasts will find all they need in the well equipped lakes, many with beaches, in the area. Within 3kms is the Lac Plaisance which offers swimming (overseen by lifeguards in the high season), a water slide, crazy golf, tennis and boules.

Many of the lakes are ideal for fishing as are the lovely rivers close by. As an example, Brantome, known locally as the “Venice of the Dordogne,” is only 30 minutes away where all ages can mess about in the river. This may be kayaking, canoeing, fishing, boating or just enjoying a meal in one of the excellent riverside restaurants or maybe a wander round the Friday market.

Situated midway between Limoges and Perigueux there are many historic and prehistoric sites nearby with a multitude of chateaux to visit whilst the famous prehistoric cave paintings at Grotte de Villars are another “must see”

Of course a visit to Limoges, the capital of the Limousin and famous for its porcelain and enamel, is essential. The centre of this city still retains its medieval heart whilst at the other end of the scale the local village of St Jean de Cole has been designated as one of Frances’ “prettiest villages”

The Parc Naturel is a great place to explore and a magnet for walkers, cyclists and others simply wishing to enjoy the good life in “La France Profonde”

Most local villages and towns have markets and restaurants to suit every pocket and taste.

Bicycles can be hired locally and even gold panning lessons can be arranged. If, as a result of these, you find any gold in the stream running through our land we shall have to come to some arrangement about the profits!

Hot Dishes

A) Beef Bourguignon           - Rich Traditional Classis French dish,  local  beef ,shallots, unsmoked lardons in a red wine

                                              Casserole,  Duchess Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables

B) Lasagne                            - Layers of Pasta , succulent minced steak bolognese  sauce topped with a creamy cheese

                                                sauce. ,Parmesan  Cheese , Mixed Salad , Garlic Bread

C) Chilli Con Carne              - Minced Steak in a spicy  (Mild medium or hot) tomato and  onion sauce served with  Rice /

                                                Jacket Potatoes or both !

D) Chicken and Mushroom Pie,     - Chefs classic - Breast of chicken ,local mushrooms  Served with Potatoes and

                                                        Seasonal Vegetables.

E) Cottage Pie                              - Classic Minced Beef  filling , topped with creamy mashed potatoes
